Texas Doctor BUSTED for Pumping Kids with Hormones

In October, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton successfully brought accountability to a physician who allegedly prescribed cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to minors, the Texas Family Project reported. The alleged actions of the physician directly violated Senate Bill 14 (which took effect September 1, 2023). Paxton filed the lawsuit against Dr. May Lau, an adolescent medicine specialist in North Texas, in October 2024, alleging that Dr. Lau provided hormone treatment for gender transition to minors, including prescribing testosterone to biological female children. Dr. Lau elected to voluntarily surrender her Texas medical license on October 9, 2025.
“Dr. Lau decided to move her medical practice to Oregon and saw no reason to continue to maintain her Texas license, according to a statement provided by her attorney Craig Smyser, the Texas Tribune reported. “Dr. Lau continues to deny the Texas Attorney General’s politically- and ideologically driven allegations.”

“Doctors who permanently hurt kids by giving them experimental drugs are nothing more than disturbed left-wing activists who have no business being in the medical field,” Paxton said in a statement. “May Lau has done untold damage to children, both physically and psychologically, and the surrendering of her Texas medical license is a major victory for our state. My case against her for breaking the law will continue, and we will not relent in holding anyone who tries to ‘transition’ kids accountable.”
Lau was one of the doctors who Paxton sued in September 2024, as Gays Against Groomers previously reported. Dr. Hector Grandados was also sued by Paxton for giving cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to children as young as 12. However, that lawsuit was dropped in September 2025 when it was discovered that Granados ended the program before the new law took effect. Previously, Grandados treated “transgender youth” as an extension of his practice that treats youth with diabetes, growth problems, and early puberty.

SB 14 prohibits medical professionals from administering puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or certain surgical treatments aimed at gender transition for minors. The law also requires that the Texas Medical Board “shall revoke the medical license or other authorization to practice medicine of a physician” who violates the law.
Paxton is also suing PFLAG for the records of any physician who has been violating the law. Brian Bond, CEO of PFLAG, claimed that he spoke to various parties about “contingency plans” and “alternative avenues” for doctors to continue providing gender transition surgeries. The organization has tried to distance itself from those comments, noting they have no documents or communications showing anyone evading the law.
The most common criticism is that these actions are “politically motivated,” but there should be nothing political about child safeguarding. At Gays Against Groomers, we commend Attorney General Ken Paxton and leaders like him who push back against the criminal doctors who continue to subject children to dangerous interventions – not because of politics, but because protecting children is the right thing to do.
